    Smile Hello Chromers

I am new here. I have a Droid 2 and I like it a lot. I am not very knowledgeable with computers but I am a quick learner. I have used gmail for many years and Chrome browser for a few years. I still don't actually have my CR-48 because it is at my house in Michigan. I am a journeyman lineman for the IBEW. I build powerlines. Right now I'm working in Massachusetts which is 9+ hours from home. I will be returning to Michigan this friday and I'm very excited to get my new lappy.

I have a few questions which may seem simple, but please, bear with me. I apologize in advance for my ignorance.

First, is it possible to use a bittorrent service with the CR-48? I would like to have something other than my D2 for music. I will assume that if possible, this might require an external drive.

Second, I have been reading up on rooting my D2. Would this be possible with the CR-48? I would really like to tether my CR-48

I'm really just a consumer looking to save a buck. I am away from my wife and my two sons for months at a time sometimes. Any way to keep in contact with my entire family is great. I love my D2, but my fingers are like dried up kielbasa so touch screens leave something to be desired.

If I think of more questions, I'll try to make them comprehensible.

    Thanks

Hi and welcome , right now I am trying out mSpot music player from the webstore....I download an application to my main PC where my itunes is then mspot uploads it and on the CR-48 it gets synced to the app, also my Android Captivate has the mspot app and the music is there, kinda cool so far, the music gets uploaded to the cloud, a little slow in uploading to the main service , been nearly 24c hours for just under 2GB of music..a small trade off I guess.

not sure if this is what you are looking for but hope it helps.

For the rooting I used this program to root my Droid 1. It worked great. I now can use it to tether my CR-48 when I don't have wifi. You don't need a custom rom to get the free thether just an app. This is a wireless thether app and this is a wired thether app. Hope this helps.

I used this method to root my phone, it doesn't require a pc.

Much simpler guide for rooting (no pc required) - Droid Forum - Verizon Droid & the Motorola Droid Forum

To tether, I use Wireless Tether for Root Users.

or Z4Root. It's as simple as downloading it from the Android Market and pressing a button. I second mSpot. As a concert promoter, my music is my job and this has been the best tool I've found to keep it with me. The Android app works great.

Z4root unfortunately is not available in the market, it was available at one point apparently. Gotta side-load it right?
