How to apply for free Google CR-48 Netbook

If you've been hearing about the free Google CR-48 Pilot Program/Netbook Program but you weren't sure where to apply then wonder no more.

You should read a bit more about the Chrome OS at this link as well so you can get familiarized with what it is: Home - Chrome OS

Also, please only apply to the program if you truly have time to do testing and submit feedback to the Google Team. Let's not let these netbooks (and Google's generosity) go to waste here. Please be sure you are applying for the right reasons.

Good point, John. I'm also part of a beta test group for a national TV provider, and believe me, THE THINGS DON'T ALWAYS WORK RIGHT!!! If you're not willing to take risks, don't sign up! Many a tester has bailed when their "TV routine" got disrupted by a testing glitch...

Yes, this makes me sad.

It is not supposed to be perfect. When i started alpha-testing minecraft it was great. now everybody demands bugfixes before content, when alpha shouldnt even have non breaking bugfixes.


I have already seen people on other forums just doing this to get a free laptop to load another OS on or just to play with themselves, and that makes me sick. Stabbing the company that gives you free things in the back...

Thanks for the link to sign the application...I just completed mine. I hope I get a shot at testing one...I would really love to get in somewhat on the ground floor and see if I can help out. I am totally in love with the Android Mobile OS...so this should be no less than a 2nd cousin all things considered...

Agreed. This is ridiculous how generous they're being. This is what good marketing looks like and this shows that our opinion seriously matters a ton. I really hope to get one as I love android and chrome and can't even imagine how sweet it would be to have my laptop be google run as well.

I notice google chrome team emailed me on tuesday morning and I applied directly. When I signed up it had a deadline of Dec 10 and I believe my link had a special referral note in the URL.

Google is AWESOME! Can't wait to try out everything. Google is always on the cutting edge and I am looking forward to being a part of it. I just filled out an application and am waiting for approval.
