    Official Chrome OS builds thread

I see most people here either have a CR48 or are not-so-patiently waiting for one. This is to remind you that you do not need a CR48 to get a taste of Chrome OS.

I will try to keep this updated when new builds are released.

None of these builds are tested by a human and therefore not guaranteed to even boot (this is by it’s very nature, it’s automated!).
    Download and more info here

User-customisable menus (rearrange, add, delete apps on your own menu)
Automatic updates via the Velocity engine (with an all new interface from what you saw in the BETA, it’s now been integrated into the browser)
nVidia GPU support (this includes ION, and it’s fully hardware accelerated)
Realtek RTL8187SE support (RTL8192E is coming as an update soon)
    Audio fix
    Flash fix
    Bookmark Sync fix
Power indicator fix (as long as it worked in Cherry)
    Battery life improvements
Increased image size to 2GB (1GB was becoming too restrictive, needed to do this to add more hardware support, sorry!)
Webcam support (to test this, right click on a YouTube video and then click settings)
    More info and download here

This is not available yet, but here is more info

Or you could also build from source

hmm...I'd be curious to see if these boot up like the CR-48's version of the OS. I loaded a version of ChromeOS onto my other laptop and all it was seemed to be a dumbed down linux distro with a web browser that said 'ChromeOS' instead of 'Chrome' at the top.

No they boot up just like Chrome OS. Hexxeh's builds are a bit dated, but he's working on it. Check it out, it wont hurt anything but a few minutes to copy it to a thumb drive.

Vanilla is the freshest but could also be a bit buggy.

Chrome is fun to build, and i'm trying to get in contact with Hexxeh but have been unsuccessful so far.. lol, ran one of his flow builds on my laptop back in November, wasn't great but it wasn't bad, it was still early chrome OS then, as far as the vanilla builds thats basically how my builds are, working on adding mods as I learn more about Chrome OS, its different from Android, but I'm working on it..

Actually I think that is EXACTLY how your builds are. Try his Twitter, I've contacted him a few times there.

Hm, is anyone else having trouble burning his builds? His files are in tar.gz, and after extracting it with 7-zip to img, i then try burning it with win32diskimager and it won't boot. I'm actually having the same problem with moblin which is also in img format.

However, no problem with iso formats. Oh yeah, converting from iso to img doesn't work

You are trying to burn an .img to cdrom? Try using a USB drive.

I'm afraid you're right PC. Other than spammers, it's very quiet.
