Did anyone get a pop up invite through your chrome browser?

I'm the perfect type of person to get a CR-48. I use everything google, online constantly, etc. But I didn't fill out the form. Today I open a new tab in Chrome on my laptop and I got a pop up asking me to apply.

I found this a little strange. If they are so limited and there are so many people that want them, why are they doing this pop up? Or was I somehow targeted as a power user? Just curious how these pop up invites are going out. I of course applied.

Oh, one more thing, the form it took me too was a very simplified form of the one that anyone can go to. Just had my information, no questions at all.

It actually wasn't a real popup. It was embedded at the top of the page. I actually almost didn't see it, I was already navigating to another page and caught a glimpse of it. Hit the back button and it was there. Just wondering if this increases my chances of getting one or they are doing this to everyone to gain some excitement! Guess I'll find out sooner or later. If the goal it to create some excitement, it worked for me. lol

Yeah, I saw it today too. I think it may have something to do with the fact that the Chrome 9 beta was released either yesterday/today. Anyways, I applied a second time, but not under the same name or address. A friend of mine's.

The form for the link given during the live webcast announcement of the Cr-48 was also very simple. No questions other than name, email, address.

    I haven't gotten a pop-up, but I assume that's because I already received a Cr-48.

Bingo and that's the one I filled out. Grabbed the QR code from the slides during the keynote and filled out that form.

yeah ken--I saw the same over the weekend too. I had applied via a link in the Engadget article early last week after the demo. I upgraded my version of the Chrome browser to v 9.0 Friday or Saturday, and got the link over my g-mail (only once). Of course i clicked on it and applied through it--was hoping it was a more targeted application with better odds. It was a shorter application than seen if you go to google's chrome OS site. I unfortunately haven't received a machine yet (noen to my zip even), but am hoping. Hopefully I don't get disqualified for two applications--I only would like one, just putting the second in hoping it was targeted to me.
