Updating to Chrome Browser Version 9

So when I check Chrome for updates I am told that Chrome OS is up to date. But I want to update the Chrome Browser, not the Chrome OS. Is there a way to do this??

The OS is the browser. Updating the OS is the same thing as updating the browser.

let me exstend this a little as well, the OS is linux really, the only GUI interface is Chrome the browser. If you do wanna update you need to wait for a update for the browser. If not, you can change to the developer channel and you will get chrome 10. for this to take effect you need to ether update or you can change into developer mode and let it wipe every thing then change back. ( note: all your data will be gone but its in the cloud!)

To add to super61's comment, the beta channel seems saddled with the Chrome Browser version 8. In order to get the higher version of the browser, a Chrome OS update is necessary, which under the circumstances means shifting to the dev channel in the chrome://settings/about. Caveat: it's not easy to switch back to the beta channel if dev channel doesn't work for you. FWIW.
